Jennifer Anderson is the Co-Head of Sustainable Investment and ESG at Lazard Asset Management. She began working in the investment field in 2006. Prior to joining Lazard in 2019, Jennifer was an Investment Manager for TPT Retirement Solutions and during this time she also served on the Board of the Directors of the Institutional Investors Group on Climate Change (IIGCC). Her prior role was as an equity research analyst in sustainable investment at Citigroup Global Capital Markets and she started her career as an SRI analyst at Jupiter Asset Management. Jennifer has a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Economic History from the University of Leicester and a master’s degree in Environment Technology from Imperial College London.

Senior professional with strong institutional asset management experience at the near end and a well-known global food and agricultural investment expert. Overall, nearly three decades of international experience in corporate strategy and development, portfolio management, M&A, and stakeholder management in conglomerate and diversified businesses.

Chair of the Chapter Zero Board, Julie Baddeley has served on the boards of major organisations in the public and private sectors for more than 20 years. She is Remuneration Committee Chair at Ebiquity plc, Senior Independent Director of Marshall of Cambridge, Non-Executive Director at TI Fluid Systems PLC and was Chair of global recruitment company Harvey Nash plc. She is also Co-Director of the Hughes Hall Centre for Climate Change Engagement, at Cambridge University, where she spearheads the work to bring the insights from the University to the non-executive community.  

Before embarking on a portfolio career she was executive director at Woolwich plc, and has been on the boards of Greggs plc, The BOC Group, Yorkshire Building Society, lottery operator Camelot, Chrysalis VCT plc and the Department of Health.

Julie is leading a series of initiatives with investors, regulators, scientists and advisors to help chairs and non-executive directors recognise the challenge of climate change to their businesses, and their business’ impacts on the environment. Her background was in change management consulting with Accenture, and she sees delivering a zero carbon economy as the biggest change challenge for business in her lifetime.

Elizabeth Baxter is Director of Project Finance at Sonnedix, a global solar independent power producer backed by J.P. Morgan Asset Management. She leads the origination and execution of financings for solar power projects in the UK and Europe. Elizabeth serves on the Board of Directors of POWERful Women, an organisation working to advance gender balance and inclusion in the UK energy sector. Before joining Sonnedix, Elizabeth was a Principal Banker at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) where she financed almost a billion euros of power and energy projects and companies in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa over eleven years. Prior to EBRD, Elizabeth was a financial associate at Biossence Ltd, a UK waste to energy developer. She began her career in investment management at Lehman Brothers in New York. She has a Bachelor in Economics and International Studies from Yale College and a Masters in Management and Strategy from the London School of Economics.

Marc joined the Board as Chief Executive Officer on 1 April 2022. He brings a deep understanding of the royalty and stream sector, Anglo Pacific’s current portfolio as well as its culture and values developed over the past eight years in his roles with the Group, most recently as Chief Investment Officer. Mr Bishop Lafleche joined Anglo Pacific in 2014 and was instrumental in the recent transformational Voisey’s Bay cobalt stream acquisition which completed in March 2021, pivoting the Group towards 21st century commodities and away from its coal heritage. Prior to joining the Group, he worked at Citigroup primarily in the Metals & Mining Investment Banking team as well as in the European Leveraged Finance team, where he worked on a variety of M&A transactions as well as debt and equity financings for clients across the Metals & Mining and other sectors. He has an MSc in Banking and International Finance from Bayes Business School and a BA (Hons) in Political Science from the University of Western Ontario and became a CFA charterholder in 2013.

Jonathan Blanchard Smith works in complex, multi-national and multi-cultural environments. With a background ranging from New York to the more remote parts of the Middle East, he has occupied C level roles in public and private corporations, as well as in the Third Sector in the UK. He brings effective and naturally empathic leadership to organisations whether as their Chairman or as a corporate troubleshooter.

Jonathan is past Chairman of the Reform Club, one of London's senior Clubs. He is a graduate of Manchester University and St Catharine's College, University of Cambridge‎.

Julien Bosché has over a decade of experience in the natural resources sector across commodities, jurisdictions, project stage, and investment types. Prior to his most recent work as an independent advisor, he was with Pala Investments (“Pala”), a leading metals and mining focused investment firm. Prior to Pala, Julien held roles in the International Finance Corporation´s mining division in Washington, D.C. and the M&A group in Citigroup´s investment banking division in New York.

Tamsin’s role involves managing our ESG and related Counterparty Risk offerings. For the most part, her clients are financial institutions and global corporations evaluating transactions and other new business opportunities. We offer specific ESG, anti-bribery, and sanctions related programmes, including a 3-phase global Counterparty DD product.  Tamsin is a registered Expert Witness. She has testified in cases heard in several jurisdictions that relate to her specialist field of Due Diligence.  She joined Diligence in 2002 and was made a Partner in 2018. She has a Bachelor’s degree in French and Spanish and a Master’s in Translation (Law and Finance: French and Spanish into English).

Harry Boyd-Carpenter is the Managing Director, Green Economy and Climate Action (GECA) at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. He took up this role in April 2021.

Mr Boyd-Carpenter is responsible for coordinating EBRD’s work across the green economy and climate agendas, with the overall goal of meeting the Bank’s commitment to achieve a green finance ratio of over 50 per cent of annual investments by 2025. He leads a team that drives climate and green financing, policy and analysis across all economic sectors and financing instruments, as well as representing EBRD in climate forums.

Mr Boyd-Carpenter is a British national and joined EBRD in 2005 in the Office of the General Counsel. In 2008 he transferred to the then Power and Energy Utilities team in Banking, before becoming Director, Head of Energy EMEA in 2017 where he led the Bank’s investment activities in the energy sector in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.

Before joining EBRD Mr Boyd-Carpenter was an Associate in the project finance team at Allen and Overy LLP and also worked for the European Agency for Reconstruction in Pristina. He is a graduate of the University of Oxford.

Hannah Bronwin is Director of Business Development for SSE Thermal. Hannah has expertise in energy innovation, energy policy and structuring and executing complex energy infrastructure transactions. Before joining SSE Thermal, Hannah worked as Commercial Director at the Energy Systems Catapult, Deputy Director for new nuclear financing at BEIS, and spent ten years as a project finance lawyer at a top-tier global law firm.

Isabella is an international lawyer and policy advisor, with transatlantic experience as corporate counsel, trade and investment director, and endowed professor of business ethics. Based at the University of Oxford, she is Research Fellow in Governance and Global Ethics at Regent’s Park College and Trustee of the Oxford Peace Research Trust. She is also a member of the British Academy’s Corporate Advisory Group for the Future of the Corporation. Isabella is the Distinguished Fellow in Corporate Social Responsibility at the Washington Institute for Business, Government & Society, and a Fellow of the Caux Round Table for Moral Capitalism. Her academic background includes a BS in Foreign Service, MA in International Relations, JD cum laude, MPhil in Theology, and PhD in human rights law.

Throughout her career, Isabella has held leadership roles within the global legal profession. These have included: Council Member, ABA International Law Section; Chair, ABA Center for Human Rights Advisory Council; International Co-Chair, Fellows of the American Bar Foundation; Founding Executive Council, Society of International Economic Law; Steering Group on Business and the Rule of Law, UN Global Compact; Board of Directors, Internet Bar Organization. In 2018, Isabella was appointed to the ABA United Nations Representatives and Observers Committee. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the ABA Rule of Law Initiative, which works around the world to support justice, good governance, and accountability.

Josephine is an NED on a number of listed Boards and Chairs the ESG Committee on each, including Vulcan Energy Resources (dual AUX and FSX listed). Vulcan is a geothermal electricity producer as well as an innovator in the extraction of high grade lithium ion from underground brine resources through an electrolysis process for the battery EV market. Josephine has her own Sustainability Consultancy, Sustineri Strategy, advising businesses on the development of their sustainability strategies. Prior to her current roles Josephine was a partner at EY, with a senior leadership role in their renewables and sustainability practice.  

Alex directs IHA’s research and policy work, covering a broad spectrum of policy issues of relevance to sustainable hydropower. These include asset management & modernisation, greenhouse gas emissions, climate change resilience, clean energy systems including hybrid technologies such as floating solar PV and hydropower, and fresh water management. He oversees the collection of data and analysis for the annual Hydropower Status Report.   

Alex joined the IHA as Head of Research & Policy in August 2020. Previously he was Head of Contracts for Difference (CfD) Policy, the UK Government's flagship renewable electricity deployment scheme. His previous experience included leading the UK's engagement with multi-national civil nuclear bodies at the UN, OECD and G7, designing a major component of the regulatory framework for smart meters in Britain and developing policy to support the rollout of onshore wind whilst at RenewableUK.

He holds an MSc in Climate Change and an MA in International Political Economy.

Dr. Ana Estefanía Carballo leads the Accountable Mining Programme of Transparency International Australia (TIA).  The Accountable Mining Programme works across our global network to look at where and how corruption can get a foothold in the mining sector. Ana is also an Honorary Research Fellow at the School of Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, University of Melbourne and prior to coming to Australia, completed her PhD at the University of Westminster in the UK and her MA at the University of Applied Sciences in Berlin, Germany. Ana has conducted extensive research on natural resources governance, particularly into the lithium mining industry associated to the energy transition and has over 15 years of experience working with civil society organisations globally, but particularly in Latin America, Europe and the Asia- Pacific Region.  She believes that strengthening natural resources governance is crucial to ensuring sustainable, accountable and equitable practices in the mining industry and is passionate about TIA’s work in facilitating anti-corruption initiatives for the sector.

Yulia Chekunaeva is Director of the Clean Growth Leadership Network.

In March 2021 Yulia graduated from Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program with her course personal case being “Climate change impact on business model in metals and mining”. She also holds an MSc from Warwick Business School (University of Warwick) in Economics and Finance. She completed her undergraduate studies at International College of Economics and Finance, which allowed her to graduate with two degrees: a BSc in Economics with honours from State University – Higher School of Economics, and a BSc in Banking and Finance from The London School of Economics and Political Sciences.

A former scientist, Belinda is Founding Director of Agri-TechE, Europe’s largest commercial membership network connecting farmers and growers with researchers, technologists, entrepreneurs and investors. Agri-TechE brings together those who see innovation as way to enhance the economic growth, agricultural productivity and environmental sustainability of the agri-food value chain and was named national Networking Group of the Year at the UK SME Business Awards 2019.

Belinda is also a Non-Executive Director of Agrimetrics, one of the UK’s Agri-Tech Centres, and was a member of the Council of UKRI-BBSRC and a Trustee of the Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association (2015-2021). In 2021 she was awarded the Sir Timothy Colman Prize for “outstanding leadership in the agri-tech sector.”

She has a first degree from the University of Cambridge in Natural Sciences (Part II Plant Sciences) and a PhD in plant biochemistry following her research on starch production in peas and potatoes at the John Innes Centre. She is a Nuffield Scholar, a Fellow of the Royal Agricultural Council, a Fellow of both the Royal Society of Biology, and the Clean Growth Leadership Network, a Chartered Biologist, and a qualified business coach.

LeRoy Coleman is Director of Communications for the National Hydropower Association (NHA). Prior to joining NHA, he worked for an international public relations firm where he developed communications strategies and conducted media training for trade and private sector organizations. LeRoy also spent time on Capitol Hill, serving as Communications Director for U.S. Senator Norm Coleman (R-MN). Additional experience in the political arena includes having served as Director of Media Affairs for the Republican National Committee, and Communications Director on a gubernatorial campaign in Oregon. As a seasoned public affairs professional with over 18 years of experience, LeRoy has managed several award winning advocacy campaigns designed to educate lawmakers and raise public awareness. Most recently, he received PRNEWS’ 2022 Nonprofit Award for Best Social Media Campaign.

Lucy is a geologist with a background in grassroots exploration. She holds an MSc in Mining Geology from Camborne School of Mines and a Master’s degree in Earth Sciences from the University of Oxford. Prior to joining Cornish Lithium, she worked as an exploration geologist for Altus Strategies, planning and implementing exploration strategies for base and precious metals projects up to drill stage in Africa. She is now applying these skills to Cornish Lithium’s exploration programme. Part of her role at Cornish Lithium is to foster collaboration with other industry and academic partners to accelerate the exploration programme and test new concepts.

Lucy has a keen interest in furthering the interests of young mining professionals and in promoting the mining industry to students, and sits on the committee of both Young Mining Professionals and Women in Mining (UK).

Jack is a globally experienced sustainability leader of more than 20 years. Specialising in designing and implementing sustainability strategies, he is an expert at building the momentum and delivering the actions required to underpin transparent and credible ESG programmes. Jack has worked in Europe, Africa and South East Asia, at both start-up and FTSE-100 consumer-facing businesses and has had senior roles covering media & broadcast, FMCG grocery retail and Big 4 advisory. He is currently Director and Senior Advisor of his own consulting practice, Harlyn Advisory and partners with the minerals and extractives industry consultancies, Trubshaw Cumberlege and Levin Sources. Prior to this for nearly 8 years, Jack was the Sustainability, Policy & Risk Director at Gemfields, the Africa-based coloured gemstone miner.

Gillian has over 20 years of sustainability experience in the extractives and natural resources sectors. She is an independent sustainability advisor and currently serves as a Non-Executive Director on the boards of New Gold and Lundin Gold. She is also Chair of International Women in Mining. Gillian was, until 2017, Head of Mining & Metals at the World Economic Forum, leading global and regional initiatives for responsible and sustainable development. Prior to this, she was Director of Social Responsibility at Teck Resources. She has previously held senior roles in mining companies, government, academia and consultancy. Gillian holds an MA (Hons) in Geography from the University of Glasgow, a PhD in Development Economics and Economic Geography from the University of Liverpool and is an alumnus of the Governor General of Canada’s Leadership Conference.

Aidan Davy joined ICMM in June 2007. As COO, he is responsible for strategy development and implementation and lead the work to develop ICMM’s Mining Principles, which define good practice environmental, social and governance requirements for the mining and metals industry. He also leads ICMM's work on environmental issues, including the management of issues relating to biodiversity, climate change, mine closure, tailings and water. Prior to assuming the role of COO in 2015, Aidan led ICMM's work on social and economic development, investor engagement and sustainability reporting.

Aidan has 34 years of cross-sectoral experience on sustainable development issues, working with a range of private, multi-lateral and not-for-profit organisations, including the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation in Washington DC. For the first decade of his career, Aidan primarily worked on environmental issues, within an international consulting company, a multinational manufacturing company and at the World Bank. He then shifted his focus to social responsibility and accountability issues, with a strong emphasis on the extractive industries for almost two decades. More recently, his focus has shifted back to environmental matters – recognising that these are closely connected to social responsibility and accountability issues.

Ignacio de Calonje is Chief Investment Officer in IFC’s Infrastructure and Natural Resources Department. He is responsible for managing IFC's Western European based clients in the oil and gas sector. Prior to his posting in London, Ignacio was based in Istanbul, Cairo and Washington DC for IFC. During his nearly 13 years at IFC, Ignacio has worked on numerous equity and debt investments in the natural resources space in emerging markets. Before joining IFC, he worked for Lehman Brothers’ investment banking division (1997-2002) in London and Madrid advising Spanish and UK corporate clients in mergers, acquisitions and debt capital market transactions. Ignacio has a Bsc in Business Administration from Universidad San Pablo-CEU (Madrid) and a Masters Degree from Columbia University (New York).

Camilla is a partner in our International crime group and part of the Contentious Regulatory, Crime and Competition practice based in London. She brings a unique perspective as a former SFO prosecutor, including experience of settling corporate resolutions from both positions, previously on behalf of the SFO, and now for corporate clients. As an investigations specialist with high quality prosecutorial experience and strong commercial insight, Camilla provides practical legal advice partnering with international corporate clients in the FI, AMIF, Telecoms, Media, Technology, Oil and Gas, Industrial and Lifesciences, sectors to understand their business objectives and wider interests. 

Camilla advises on all aspects of financial crime, cybercrime and ESG risks that Boards and businesses face in the UK and internationally. This includes managing regulatory and criminal law risk from the start of a process, for example a whistle blower account to the endpoint of an enforcement process and potential satellite shareholder actions. Camilla is instructed to conduct internal investigations, compliance and remediation reviews, and to assess potential investment opportunities for financial crime risks. Her work includes advising corporates and individuals in relation to alleged financial misstatements, modern slavery and supply chain issues, money laundering, facilitation of tax evasion, bribery and corruption, and sanctions breaches and, how to judge and control the dynamic and engagement with domestic and international enforcement agencies.

Camilla joined the firm in May 2020 from the U.K. Serious Fraud Office where she was Co-Head of Fraud and Corruption and a key member of the SFO’s Senior Management Team holding operational responsibility for the most-high profile, complex multi-jurisdictional fraud, bribery and corruption investigations. At the SFO she led investigations into some of the largest international and British companies and senior individuals. Camilla was involved in the UK’s first landmark global DPA with Rolls Royce plc and recently led the negotiations for the SFO in relation to the global Airbus landmark DPA alongside the DoJ (USA) and PNF (France) which was the largest international anti-bribery enforcement settlement to date. Prior to joining the SFO, Camilla spent her career as a trial advocate at the U.K. independent criminal bar, where she specialised in defending and prosecuting serious economic crime.

Barbara joined Impactt in 2016 and heads up Impactt's Financial Institutions team and services, working with investors and development finance institutions (DFIs) to understand labour and human rights risks related to business risk. She is an experienced social researcher and assessor with a deep focus on human and labour rights issues. She has spent much of her six years with Impactt carrying out fieldwork as a lead assessor, applying her background in social research to refine Impactt’s worker voice methodologies, train interviewer teams and develop due diligence tools where traditional approaches are not enough. Before joining Impactt, she researched the human rights of farm workers in the South African wine industry and gained experience working at Care International and the Austrian Mission to the United Nations in Geneva.

Claire is responsible for leading the portfolio of sustainable finance related projects across London Stock Exchange Group’s Capital Markets business which includes equities, fixed income and ETFs. Claire has played an important role in the development of model ESG disclosure and reporting guidance for London Stock Exchange listed companies and initiatives such as an ESG Disclosure Tool, the publication of a guide to green finance and Green Economy Mark for AIM and Main Market companies.  Claire’s background is in the fund management industry and in equity capital markets, working with private and listed companies. Claire is a member of an industry Taskforce on the Scaling of Voluntary Carbon Markets.

Positioned at the heart of global financial markets, LSEG works across the investment and finance chain from issuers to asset owners, and across the financial, banking, trading and advisory ecosystem. As such LSEG is uniquely positioned to support clients in achieving the transition to a sustainable and net-zero economy and was the first exchange group to commit to net zero emissions.

Iain is the Cross Border Head of the Energy, Natural Resources and Infrastructure Group at Simmons & Simmons. He acts for Investment Funds and Corporates and is a leading practitioner in relation to mining & metals and power transactions.

He advises on M&A, projects, joint ventures and finance matters (including prepays, streams and royalties). Clients note that he “understands the mining industry as a whole very well.” whilst being “very tuned into mining and is very client-focused” (Chambers & Partners 2025). 

Iain spent six months on secondment at an Energy/Resources major.

He regularly speaks at international conferences in the Energy and Natural Resources sectors and sits on the Council of the London based society for the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.

Experience includes advising: British Lithium on its joint venture with Imerys to develop the UK’s largest lithium deposit (which will result in the UK’s first integrated producer of battery-grade lithium, with production targets to supply 500,000 electric cars per year); Orion Resource Partners on its joint venture with Fusion Capital, on the acquisition and financing of the SASA lead and zinc mine in Macedonia and its subsequent sale (by way of reverse takeover) to Central Asia Metals; Mantoverde on its $847m financing package, including $520m of senior debt and $275m equity funding and offtake with Mitsubishi Materials, for its copper and gold project in Chile; and Mainstream Renewable Power on its pan-African and Chilean joint ventures with funds including IFC, Rockefeller Brothers and Actis, and the sale of its interests in those JVs.

Gianluca Ferrari is the Founder and CEO of Clearway Capital, an investment firm focused on impact investing in public markets. Clearway adopts an opportunistic, value-oriented strategy and uses shareholder engagement to drive returns and positive societal impact.

Prior to founding Clearway, Gianluca led the activist investments for a prominent European focused fund and currently sits on the boards of Retelit SpA, a Clearway portfolio company, and Be Shaping the Future SpA, an IT Consulting firm listed on the Milan stock exchange.

Anne-Marie Fleury has worked for over 20 years’ on environmental, social governance in the mining sector and mineral supply chains. She works with the cobalt team at Glencore focussing on supply chain engagement and issues related to sourcing from high risk countries including those associated to artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM). Anne-Marie chairs the Responsible Sourcing and Sustainability Committee of the Cobalt Institute and is an active participant in the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) and Global Battery Alliance (GBA). Her background is in standards and assurance, multi-stakeholder initiatives and mineral supply chain responsible sourcing.

Jessica is Head Strategist at Pala. Her focus is on investigating emerging technologies such as electric vehicles, renewables, recycling and blockchain, and forecasting the impact these trends will have on commodity markets and how investors will finance the future economy. She also leads Pala’s ESG due diligence process.  Prior to joining Pala, Jessica was Commodities Strategist and an Equity Research Analyst at BMO Capital Markets - a member of their top-ranked Metals & Mining global research team - where her in-depth analysis and integrity gained the trust of asset management and industry clients around the world.  Jessica is a frequent speaker at industry and corporate conferences, most recently at LME Week 2021’s flagship Metals Seminar and the FT's Global Commodity Summits. She has appeared on CNBC and Bloomberg TV, and has been cited in other press such as the Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Reuters and Streetwise.

Rosanna Fusco currently serves as Head of Climate Change Strategy and Positioning in the CFO Executive Office at Eni. She has more than 15 years of experience in the field of environmental and climate sustainability, strategy and operations. She has been involved in many international initiatives and business associations focused on environmental and climate issues. She currently sits on the Executive Committee of OGCI and IPIECA and is co-chair of the Steering Team of the Climate and Clean Air Oil & Gas Methane partnership promoted by the UNEP.

Rosanna Fusco has a degree in Chemistry from the University of Naples. She was a visiting researcher at EMBL in Heidelberg and at the University of Groningen in Holland. She joined the R&D Eni Center in the 1990s, where in the last 5 years she was Project Manager for many environmental projects in the field of atmospheric emissions as well as water and soil remediation. From 2003 to 2019 she joined Eni’s HSE Executive Office where she led the Environment and Climate Department.

Katya Gorbatiouk has over 20 years of experience in international capital markets. She works at the London Stock Exchange in Primary Capital Markets, having recently taken on a new role as Head of Investment Funds.  From February 2022 Katya serves on the Best Practice Committee of the Investor Relations Society. She served on the judging panel for the IR Society 2021 Best Practice Awards in ESG Communications. Her article on the evolution of corporate communications was published in the 2021/22 issue of the IR Society Journal Informed.

Katya previously chaired the Board Effectiveness & Stakeholder Governance working group at the Institute of Directors’ Centre for Corporate Governance. She has co-authored an IoD publication on best practices of enacting a stakeholder-centric approach by corporate boards.  Katya has been a long-standing board member of organisations with high social impact, such as the Global Leaders Program (Washington DC), London Music Fund, London Symphony Orchestra and others.

Jonathan joined Rio Tinto in 2019 and is the Principal Advisor on Climate Change in the Strategy team. He supports Board and ExCo engagement on climate matters such as carbon pricing, offsets and policy. He is also responsible for Rio Tinto’s climate-related disclosures and engagement with CSOs, investors and industry associations. Jonathan has spent 25 years in the extractives and consulting sectors focused on the business implications of climate change. Jonathan is on the Board of the International Emissions Trading Association and has been actively engaged in UN climate negotiations since COP3 in 1997.

Growing up, my dream was to be a writer. However, when I was old enough to understand the precarious financial nature of this career choice, I decided to think again and follow a route that would allow me to write, engage with the media and exercise my skill for forensic analysis. And after 25 years in the communications industry, supporting leading UK and global brands, I can honestly say that I made the right choice. I have developed a specialism in creating strategies that help companies rebuild their reputations following significant challenges or widespread criticism of an entire industry sector. I have extensive experience of managing short-term crises and work across a broad range of industry sectors including financial services, healthcare, pharmaceutical, retail, defence, mining and manufacturing. Over the years, I have seen the problems companies face change significantly and now work extensively on issues involving sustainability, supply chain risks, human rights, corporate governance and taxation. The work can be complex and challenging but it’s never dull. And, whether it’s a submission to a government select committee or public inquiry, a statement around high-profile litigation or an annual sustainability report, I have plenty of opportunity to write on a daily basis.

James Gyenes is a Senior Policy Coordinator at the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Child Labor, Forced Labor, and Human Trafficking in the Bureau of International Labor Affairs, where he leads aspects of the office’s work on private sector engagement on business and human rights, trade enforcement, supply chains, as well as international reporting on child labor and forced labor. Prior to his time with the Department, Mr. Gyenes spent time as an English teacher with Fulbright in Austria and as an urban agriculture volunteer with the U.S. Peace Corps in Senegal. Mr. Gyenes holds an MBA from Johns Hopkins University, and a bachelor’s from Kenyon College. He speaks French, German, and some Hungarian.

Simon spent 35 years in an executive career with Royal Dutch Shell plc.  He became Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Board of Royal Dutch Shell plc on May 1, 2009. In addition to responsibility for all financial activities of the company, he was responsible for Strategy, Planning and Information Technology, and acted as Regional Executive Director for Asia Pacific with specific oversight of new business development in China.  Since retiring as CFO and Executive Director in March 2017, he has developed a portfolio of non-executive and advisory roles, in both the public and private sector. He has a particular interest in strategy, financial performance, risk management and corporate governance.

Simon is a Non Executive Director and Chair of the Audit Committee at Rio Tinto. He is an Independent Director and member of the Investment and Development Committee of PetroChina. He joined the Board at Lloyds Banking Group in 2014 and chaired the Audit Committee for 3 years before resigning from the Board at the end of September 2020. In April 2021, Simon became Senior Independent Director of Harbour Energy plc, on completion of the reverse takeover and re-listing of Premier Oil plc.  He was a member of the UK Defence Board from 2018 to 2022.

In addition, Simon was a member of the Main Committee of the 100 Group of UK FTSE CFOs and Chair of the European Round Table CFO Taskforce, and remains a member of the Advisory Board of the Centre for European Reform, a UK based think tank. He is a Fellow and member of the Advisory Panel of CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), and a Trustee of the Cambridge China Development Trust.

Stacy has 15 years’ experience working as an International Development Specialist and Strategic Advisor on areas surrounding gender, natural resources, renewable energy, social impact investment, disaster risks and climate resilience, and large national and international infrastructure development projects across the commercial, public and multilateral sectors. Fund Manager with corporate finance and engineering background. Richard has a 30 years experience in 
Utilities and Energy and is a Chartered Engineer, originally from Babcock Power 
and latterly Exxon. In addition, his financial experience spans Stock Broking, Corporate Finance and Fund Management with Henderson Crosthwaite, Ernst & Young and Artemis Investment Management, where he invested into renewables companies. He uses this unique blend of technical and financial knowledge to apply a differentiated approach to stock selection and asset management. He has an MSc in Petroleum Engineering from Imperial College.

Vera is a senior professional with 17 years of private equity, investment banking and strategy consulting experience, dedicated exclusively to the mining industry, with the recent focus on Africa/Emerging Markets.  Over the years, she has successfully provided the full spectrum of financing and consulting services to her clients and portfolio companies, including access to public and private equity markets, project finance, M&A, and strategic advisory.

After graduating from Newcastle University in 1997, Charlie knew that he wanted a career with exposure to the fast-moving worlds of equity and debt capital markets, the financial media and the business sector.  He quickly settled on strategic financial communications.  Over 20 years later, his passion for these areas of commerce remains undimmed. Charlie leads the Natural Resources practice, and is a day to day advisor to large, mid-market and growth companies in the resources and energy sector. The practice supports a number of energy companies both in production and exploration development phases. With extensive media relationships and a deep understanding of the vital IR and ESG issues to address, Charlie has significant experience in creating communication strategies to help clients achieve appropriate valuations for their assets, equity and debt.  He has advised on a number of high profile transactions including the $8.9bn IPO of Polyus, Uralkali’s $500mn eurobond and the re-admission of En+ to trading on the LSE.

Paul Jefferiss has over thirty years’ executive, non-executive and advisory experience on ESG and sustainability in government, the private sector, civil society and academia.  He is currently a Partner at Natural Carbon Capital Ltd, which he co-founded; Head of Climate and Sustainability, UK National Committee on China; and Non-Executive Director, The Carbon Trust.  Previously, he was Head of Policy and Stakeholder Relations at bp, where he managed company positions, policies and partnerships on climate change, environmental and social policy.  In this role, he represented bp  on the Executive Committee of the Oil & Gas Climate Initiative, whose policy committee he also chaired, and the Council of the WBCSD. Before that, he held positions as a UK biofuels regulator, Executive Director of the Green Alliance, and lecturer on environmental management for UNEP at Tufts University. He has written and spoken widely on energy, climate and the environment, with over a hundred publications and presentations. He has given testimony to over twenty UK Parliamentary Select Committees, and served on over fifty government, academic and private sector governance and advisory boards in the US, UK and EU. He holds degrees from Cambridge, Harvard and Tufts. In 2003 he received the Queen’s Pioneer to the Life of the Nation Award and is listed in Who’s Who.

David has been structuring, arranging and financing natural resources and energy projects for the past two decades throughout Australia, Asia, America, Africa and Europe. David joined Lloyds Banking Group in June 2020 and has previously worked with ANZ & HBOS in Sydney and CBA in Sydney, Brisbane & London. David holds qualifications from the University of Queensland & University of Oxford.

Jonny Oates has been a member of House of Lords since October 2015 where he speaks frequently on the climate emergency and energy. He takes a particular interest in sustainable finance and is a vice chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Renewable and Sustainable Energy and the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Net Zero. He is a Commissioner for the UK Hydrogen Policy Commission.

From 2017-2019 he was Senior Adviser to the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, a charitable foundation working principally in Africa and South Asia.

During the Coalition Government, he was Deputy Director of Communications in 10 Downing Street and Chief of Staff to the Deputy Prime Minister. In the late 1990’s Jonny worked in South Africa’s first democratic parliament on a project to support political parties previously excluded from parliament under the apartheid regime. In 1988 he taught in - and helped establish - a new rural secondary school in Zimbabwe.

Jonny is Co-Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Groups on Africa, South Africa and Zimbabwe and a Trustee of The World Reimagined, an educational and public arts project to raise awareness of the impacts of transatlantic slave trade.

His memoir, I Never Promised You a Rose Garden, which reflects on his journey to Ethiopia aged 15, was first published in October 2020 and issued in paperback in August 2022.

Jane has 29 years of experience providing sustainability consulting services to the mining industry.

Extensive experience undertaking impact assessment, permitting and auditing of mines, coupled with a thorough understanding of environmental, social and governance (ESG) concepts, enables Jane to provide forward-thinking ESG advisory services. Her interest is in assisting mines to manage impacts and risk and to gain and maintain a sustainable development licence to operate.

Based in South Africa initially (1991 to 2005) and then in Wales (from 2006), Jane has worked on mining assets in Africa, Europe and Central Asia.  She has worked on over 35 mine environmental and social impact assessments and has led half of these. Most of her work in the last decade has involved review of mining assets for lenders, investors and stock exchange listings.  She has overseen environmental and social reviews of well over 100 mining assets.

Ines Kaempfer brings over 15 years of experience in supply chain sustainability where she has been deeply engaged in child rights, labour rights and business and human rights issues in manufacturing and agriculture industries in Asia. As the CEO of The Centre for Child Rights and Business (formerly CCR CSR), a social enterprise that helps businesses improve their direct and indirect impact on children, Ines leads strategic design and implementation of overall operations and stakeholder engagement, working closely with major multi-national clients and partners around the world. Under Ines’s leadership, The Centre has grown to cover over a dozen key sourcing countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America, where Ines spearheads the development and scaling of innovative child rights and worker wellbeing programmes across a range of industries.

Tracey spent almost 10 years working for Anglo American plc, most recently as Group Head of Sustainable Development (Sept 2020 to April 2021) having previously also been accountable for safety, operational risk management and sustainable development across the Anglo American group (Jan 2016 to August 2020). Prior to working in sustainability, Tracey worked as a geologist where, between July 2008 and August 2011, she oversaw Vale’s exploration activities in the Americas and subsequently joined Anglo American as Group Head of Exploration where she was responsible for exploration activities in 15 countries. Tracey served as a Non-Executive Director of Polymetal International plc from January 2018 to March 2022 where she also chaired the Safety and Sustainability Committee and was a member of the Audit and Risk Committee.

Julian brings 30 years of experience in the analysis of metals and mining to his current role as Senior Vice President, Vice Chair Metals and Mining, where he is responsible for senior stakeholder engagement and relationships. He is a recognised authority on the aluminium industry across the value chain from bauxite mining through to end-use analysis. His in-depth understanding of the key factors influencing the industry and issues that stakeholders face is of critical importance in his work providing strategic advice to clients. Since joining Wood Mackenzie, he has carried out the role of Manager – Metal Market Services, Global Head of Metals Research, and Global Head of Metals and Mining Research.

Julian travels extensively and regularly presents to senior industry and financial community stakeholders on Wood Mackenzie's analysis across the value chain of the metals and mining space, covering aluminium, copper, lead, nickel, zinc, iron ore, steel and coal. He also supports consulting assignments and specialises in market environment assessment, expert witness, raw materials sourcing, contract pricing, portfolio optimisation and strategic advisory relating to brownfield and greenfield investments in the metals and mining space.

Prior to joining Wood Mackenzie, Julian worked at British Aerospace Commercial Aircraft Division, where he was a development engineer responsible for the development and evaluation of advanced materials and processes for aerospace applications.

Anke Kwast heads a team to support the decarbonization of the Food Chain in a sustainable and profitable manner. Anke provides strategic and technical support for Yara's Climate Neutral roadmap, and the transformation to nature positive practices. Responsible for the development of science based targets for Yara's scope 3 downstream (fertilizer use by farmers). Supporting Yara’s Corporate & Global Initiative departments via engagement with OP2B on the development of the regenerative agriculture framework. In WEF, member of Carbon plus coalition and Nature based Solution workstream. In SAI is engaged in the technical workstream of the regenerative agriculture program. In IFA, member of Science & Agronomy Steering Group and scope 3 downstream working group.

Daniele La Porta is the Global Head for Sustainability and ESG for Gerald Group. In this role she is leading the Group’s efforts in advancing a more sustainable metals trade through the implementation of the company’s Sustainability strategy. Through her work, she seeks to identify long-term solutions and returns associated with environmental, social, and governance issues, integrating them throughout Gerald’s portfolio.

Prior to joining Gerald, Ms. La Porta was a Senior Mining Specialist with the Energy and Extractives Global Practice of the World Bank for over 10 years. There, she worked on mineral sector governance and sustainable development in mineral rich developing countries. She also founded and led the World Bank’s Climate-Smart Mining Initiative, which focuses on improving the sustainability of the supply chains of the critical minerals needed for the energy transition.

Daniele is Brazilian with degrees in Geology and Environmental Management.

Natasha joined Sarasin & Partners in 2013, where she oversees the firm’s stewardship activities. Specific areas of work include steering the integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) matters into the investment process, managing voting and engagement, and leading outreach on several policy and market-related matters. Natasha is a member of the Financial Reporting Council’s Investor Advisory Group, as well as the Advisory Board for Sir Donald Brydon’s review of the effectiveness and purpose of audit. Natasha has a background in development economics and responsible investment. Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners, she spent six years as the senior analyst leading ESG integration and several areas of policy work at the Universities Superannuation Scheme’s investment management arm. Natasha has a Masters in Economics from the University of Cambridge, an MSc in Natural Resource and Environmental Economics from University College London, and is a CFA Charterholder.

Ben is a Chartered Geologist and a practising ESG consultant in the exploration and mining industry. He is passionate about sustainability and focuses on reducing impacts of mining on people and the planet. Ben is involved in a wide range of commodities and mineral deposit types predominantly in Northern Europe and West Africa, including bulk commodities, speciality and technology metals, and industrial minerals. Ben trained as a Geologist at Cardiff University and has worked at SRK since then, first as a geologist, and now as an ESG consultant. Ben is a Council Member of The Geological Society of London and also a member of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining. Ben is particularly keen to increase public understanding of the exploration and mining industry through outreach and engagement with all stakeholder groups.

Estelle Levin-Nally is CEO of Levin Sources, which she founded as a catalyst to build sustainable, valuable and equitable minerals sectors. Estelle is an internationally recognised leader in the nexus of human rights, minerals and nature, advocating for and advancing sector commitments and activities that can realise more sustainable production and sourcing systems for marginal producers in fragile environments, especially in the worlds of artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) and forest-smart mining (FSM). She serves on diverse boards and committees that are advancing the ESG agenda in minerals, including as convenor of the Human Rights and Child Labour Working Group of the Global Battery Alliance’s Battery Passport. Estelle was named one of the 100 global influential women in mining in 2020, by WIM UK. #48 Top 100 Modern Slavery Influencers 2018; #15 Top 100 Conflict Minerals Influencers 2017.

Karina is Ambassador & Founding Chairman of the Climate Governance Initiative. She serves on the boards of Italian power grid operator Terna S.p.A., on the Controls, Risks & Sustainability Committee and the Nominations, Governance & Scenarios Committee; 

Karina's previous role included a Senior Independent Director and Chairman of the Remuneration & Social Responsibility Committee of UK independent oil & gas operator EnQuest plc.

Since the passage of the Paris Agreement at CoP21 in 2015, Karina has been working to build a global network for fellow board directors to drive the adoption of effective Paris-aligned climate transition strategies in the boardroom.

Daniel Litvin is the Founder and Senior Partner of Critical Resource. Since founding the company in 2006, he has grown Critical Resource to be a leading provider of strategic advice to energy and mining firms and their investors on ‘ESG’, license-to-operate, and political risks. Critical Resource was acquired by ERM, the leading global sustainability consultancy, in early 2020. Daniel is also currently a Visiting Senior Fellow at LSE’s Grantham Institute on Climate Change and the Environment.

Prior to Critical Resource, Daniel was a consultant and adviser to leadership at McKinsey & Company on “business in society” issues. He was also a policy adviser to Rio Tinto, where he worked with senior management on human rights and other sustainability topics. He has also been a senior research fellow at the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House) in London, specializing in the geopolitics of energy.

Daniel started his career at The Economist, where he worked as the magazine’s environment and resources correspondent, jointly winning the Wincott Award for young financial journalist of the year. He is author of ‘Empires of Profit: Commerce, Conquest & Corporate Responsibility,’ a history of the political challenges facing big corporations, from the East India Company onward. Daniel holds an MSc in Anthropology and Development from the LSE, and a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University.

Will is a Deputy Director in the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy’s Hydrogen and Industrial Carbon Capture Directorate. Will leads the teams responsible for designing the commercial frameworks and revenue mechanisms for hydrogen production, hydrogen storage and industrial carbon capture projects, to enable deployment in the 2020s. This also includes leading the negotiations for award of the first business model contracts to hydrogen production and industrial carbon capture projects.

Previously Will headed up the CCUS Policy Team for nearly 5 years, leading on the development of CCUS policy within the UK as well as internationally. Before that, he joined DECC to lead on the legislation and regulatory framework to introduce the UK’s Capacity Market through the Government’s Electricity Market Reform Programme. Will has previously worked in Defra and the Cabinet Office.

Joan MacNaughton has extensive board experience in industry, government, academia and the third sector. Her career in government encompassed strategy, regulation, procurement, and parliamentary business, as well as stints as chief of staff to the deputy prime minister and two cabinet ministers, culminating as Director General of Energy for the UK. She spent five years in a power sector company, where she led the company’s global climate change advocacy, and six years leading the World Energy Council’s ‘Trilemma’ process, focusing on how to improve business and government collaboration over energy policy. She has wide international experience, including as Chair of the International Energy Agency, and a high level international network. She currently chairs the Board of the Climate Group; is a Non-Executive Director of En+Group IPJSC, where she chairs the Health, Safety and Environment Committee; and of Heathrow Airport Holdings Ltd. She is a member of the Strategic Advisory Board of Engie UK plc, and sits on several academic advisory boards at energy and climate institutes. She publishes and lectures on energy and climate issues. As well as climate and energy issues, she has experience in health and safety and diversity and inclusion issues.

Florian Mayr is a Partner and the Founder of the energy storage practice at Apricum – The Cleantech Advisory, a globally active transaction advisory and strategy consulting firm dedicated to the cleantech industry. Florian is an expert for strategy, business development and transaction advisory in the global cleantech markets. Florian leads Apricum’s energy storage practice and is particularly responsible for the company’s international activities in this field. He has written numerous articles on energy storage and e-mobility and is published regularly in leading industry media such as energy-storage.news and pv magazine. He is also a sought-after speaker at key renewable energy conferences in Europe. Prior to Apricum, Florian spent a decade in senior positions at McKinsey & Company and RWE, where he was mainly involved in strategy development projects both in the conventional and renewable energy sectors. Florian holds a Master’s Degree in Engineering from the Technical University of Berlin, and a Master’s in Business Administration from the Technical University of Berlin and the University of Mannheim.

Alex joined Stifel in April 2016 and sits in the real estate and investment trust teams with a primary focus on sustainability-linked corporates. As well as providing day to day corporate broking advice to clients, he assists in coordinating corporate finance transactions including IPOs, secondary fundraises and M&A deals. Between Sep '20 to Sep '21 Alex gained a Distinction in the Climate Change, Management and Finance MSc at Imperial College Business School, focussing a portion of his studies on the role of carbon markets in accelerating climate mitigation. Alex graduated from the University of Bath in 2015 with an Honours degree in Economics (First Class). He spent a year with City Asset Management as part of his degree programme, gaining experience in institutional asset management.

Olivier Mussat joined ATOME straight from his role as the Chief Investment Officer for Global Energy at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), part of the World Bank Group, where he had been for nine years involved in both early stage and mature businesses.

Prior to joining IFC, Olivier was Head of Oil and Gas Project Finance at Standard Chartered Bank after roles at Schlumberger and General Electric. He graduated from Virginia Wesleyan University before completing a Master of Science degree in Technology and Management from École Centrale Supelec in Paris.

Michael has over 35 years of experience in the management and development of public and private global metals, mining and battery metals companies. Since 2015 he has been CEO of EV Metals Group plc (EVM). EVM is a leading global battery materials and technology business playing a critical role in the development of a clean energy future. The business has recently achieved significant international profile by acquiring Johnson Matthey’s battery materials business which completes EVM’s integrated supply chain from in-situ critical raw minerals to the production of high purity chemicals and cathode active materials for manufacturers of electric vehicles and battery cells.

An experienced hands-on Agriculture / Natural Capital Investor and Operations Director with experience in South America, Iberia, Central and Eastern Europe, Ukraine, North America, Africa and Australia. Prior experience in finance, business analysis and improvement, change management and strategy development roles in the telecom and retail sectors. Grew up in Zimbabwe on a large mixed farm developing a passion for sustainable agriculture.

Barbara Oldani is Director of the Sovereign Decarbonization Program and Director of the Labeled Bonds Campaign at the Emerging Markets Investors Alliance. Barbara is an investment banker and an advocate for progressive change and sustainability in the financial markets. She has held London-based roles in fixed income sales focused on structured products, high yield and emerging markets at investment banks including Salomon Brothers, Citibank, and Unicredit. Barbara has also worked as a senior executive in the investment banking industry. She was co-founder and CEO of an FCA-regulated advisory firm. In the Chief Operating Officer's office at NatWest Markets, Barbara led bank-wide regulatory and strategic projects focused on governance and transformational challenges. In these roles, she engaged with both internal stakeholders and regulators.  Barbara holds a CFA UK Certificate in ESG Investing. Barbara earned a BSc and MSc in Economics and Social Sciences (DES) from Bocconi University in Milan.

Preston Pierce is the Hydro General Manager for Duke Energy and an active member of the National Hydro Association serving on the Pump Storage Committee and Market Committee. As the General
Manager he is responsible for a fleet of hydro assets that total approximately 2650 MW and include two pump storage hydro facilities at Bad Creek and Jocassee. He has a Batchelor of Science and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University and Georgia Tech respectively. During his 30 years in the electric industry he has worked across many different generation technologies including nuclear, coal, oil, gas, hydro and solar. Additionally, experience in Bulk Electric System Operations and Planning including ISO/RTO development have led to his involvement on several grid transformation initiatives. As a leader in the hydroelectric industry, Preston is uniquely positioned to offer insight into opportunities for renewable expansion and energy storage solutions. Duke Energy is a leader in renewable energy as we make our journey to net zero carbon and building a smarter energy future.

Julia is Director of Financing for Sizewell C, and is working with Government to identify an innovative way for Sizewell C to be funded at best value to electricity consumers, and with potential investors and lenders to raise the capital required (the design replication and funding model could also pave the way for other nuclear projects such as Moorside). Prior to her move to Sizewell C, Julia was Head of Power and Renewables for UK, US & Europe at Herbert Smith Freehills LLP.  At HSF, she led a cross-practice team advising on nuclear, wind, biomass and tidal projects.

Julia is a Fellow of the Energy Institute, member of the CBI Energy & Climate Change Board and an Independent Non-Executive Director of Newcleo.

Eliette Riera is Head of UK Policy at the PRI and a former civil servant, who worked for seven years across several government departments on energy and climate change policies.

Mark is the Executive Director of the EITI since 2018, leading the organisation's engagement on extractives transparency and managing the International Secretariat. Mark serves as Board Secretary and is responsible for managing the International Secretariat, fundraising and financial management, and oversight of implementation in EITI’s member countries. Mark has over 30 years' experience in governance, extractives, climate and international development, and a career spanning the worlds of policy, operations, research and philanthropy. Prior to joining EITI in 2018, Mark served as Global Director for Governance at the World Resources Institute in Washington D.C. He previously held senior positions at the Department for International Development, the Institute of Development Studies, the Ford Foundation, and the Overseas Development Institute.

Mark has held several board and advisory roles and currently serves as an Envoy for the Open Government Partnership. Mark was a founding member of the OGP Board of Directors and the first Board Chair from 2016-2020. He holds a DPhil and MA in Comparative Politics from the University of Sussex, and a BA honours degree in Social and Political Science from the University of Cambridge.

Katherine has over 20 years of senior corporate and capital markets experience. Having worked as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Wentworth following her role as Vice President Corporate Development & Investor Relations in 2014, Katherine was appointed as CEO in January 2020. Prior to Wentworth, Katherine spent 11 years at Panmure Gordon & Co having moved from Morgan Stanley’s investment banking division. As well as CEO of Wentworth, Katherine is Independent Non-Executive Director of ITM Power PLC and Longboat Energy PLC. Katherine is a member of both the Nominations Committee and the Sustainability Committee.

Dr. Roland Roesch is Deputy Director of the Innovation and Technology Center of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).Before Roland became a Professor in October 2010 he worked for 15 years in the Oil&Gas and Utilities Industry for Shell and E.ON, in his last position as General Manager Power at Shell and for E.ON as Head of Division, Project Leader, Project Executive and Technical Project Developer. Before he joined E.ON he worked as an Energy Market Consultant for Lahmeyer International and as a researcher for renewable energies and CO2 mitigation. Roland has solid business experience in energy market related strategies, M&A including senior deal lead and integration management, energy project development and project financing. He currently leads the IRENA Renewable Energy Project Development Navigator initiative known as IRENA Project Navigator, IRENA's Innovation activities and the grids & storage activities including the grid Integration of renewable energies on islands. Roland has a high proficiency in delivering applied energy solutions in difficult work environments.

Tim Rowe has been working on sustainable finance at the FCA since June 2021. During this time, Tim has overseen production of the FCA’s first TCFD-aligned climate disclosure, its Climate Change Adaptation Report and the letter to the chairs of authorised fund managers regarding the design, delivery and disclosure of ESG and sustainability-related funds. Tim is also organising the implementation internally of the FCA’s ESG Strategy and the ESG-related Commitment in the FCA 3-year Strategy. Prior to his current position, Tim undertook a range of management roles in policy, taking in the FCA’s response to the Covid-19 crisis (focusing on mortgages and consumer credit), its preparations for Brexit and the negotiation of MiFID 2. Tim is an experienced international negotiator, having led working groups and task forces at both the European Securities & Markets Authority and the International Organization of Securities Commissions. Prior to his 12 years at the FCA, Tim worked in a number of management and regulatory roles for the London Stock Exchange Group.

I grew up in Hong Kong, and studied in the UK and the US. I’ve worked as a journalist in New York, Beijing, and London. While living in Beijing for seven years I co-authored a book with Michael Forsythe (now at the New York Times) about China’s largest overseas lender, China Development Bank, which lent billions to countries such as Venezuela, playing a key role in the spread of China’s power and state capitalism overseas. 

I’m particularly interested in the geopolitics of the global energy transistion and how individual Chinese companies define China’s embrace of the world. 

I currently work as executive editor for Benchmark Mineral Intelligence, a leading provider of data and analysis for the lithium ion battery supply chain.

Laura Sandys specialises in the energy, food and resource sectors, focusing on energy markets, digitalisation, food security and resource management. Recently she Chaired the Energy System Data Taskforce on behalf of BEIS, Ofgem and Innovate UK while working at the Energy Systems Catapult. She is an advocate of the low carbon economy, promoter of increasing demand reduction policies and innovator in food systems policies.

She is an Independent Director at SGN Ltd, Chair of the Food Foundation, Non-Executive Director of the Energy Systems Catapult and Co-Chair of the IPPR Environment and Justice Commission. She runs The Reshaping Regulation Programme with Imperial College and the Energy Systems Catapult and was a member of Government's Cost of Energy Review chaired by Prof Dieter Helm. She founded the Food Foundation that advocates changes to the UK food system, and Co-Founder of POWERful Women that promotes women's roles in the energy sector. She has been appointed a member of the Government's CCUS Council and is a Member of Imperial College’s Centre for Carbon Capture and Storage Advisory Group.

Mark Selby is a founding shareholder of Canada Nickel Company and has served as Chair and Chief Executive Officer, since its inception in September 2019.  Canada Nickel is focused on delivering the next generation of nickel supply through large-scale, low-cost, net zero production that adheres to the highest standards of environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices. Canada Nickel is expected to play a pivotal role in helping European and North American nickel consumers achieve their global decarbonization objectives by rapidly advancing its large tonnage Crawford nickel sulphide discovery in Timmins, Canada, to deliver NetZero Nickel^TM, NetZero Cobalt^TM and NetZero Iron^TM.  In 2001, Mr. Selby joined Inco Limited where he held senior management roles and is recognized as one of the leading authorities on the nickel market.  During the last decade, Mr. Selby led RNC Minerals and the development of the construction-ready Dumont nickel project.  Over the course of his career, he has held executive management and board positions with a number of senior and junior mining companies.

As Head of ESG of Benchmark Mineral Intelligence, Charlotte Selvey Miller's ESG team assess the entire EV supply chain on environment, social and governance issues and risks in order to  inform and advise the industry on how to make clean energy cleaner. Benchmark's ESG division is currently focussed on publishing Lithium, Cobalt, Nickel and Graphite ESG Reports on the EV industry that include Global Baseline Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs). 

Charlotte has both practical and academic environmental and social science experience on the impacts and risks in multiple supply chains. Charlotte's PhD looked at ecosystem services and biodiversity within agri-supply chains at University College London and her Masters, in Conservation Science, was focussed on the social impact of carbon offsetting projects in Guyana.

Rebecca Sherratt is the editor of Insightia Monthly, the comprehensive publication for all things corporate governance, shareholder activism, and stewardship. Insightia, a Diligent brand since January 2022, is a market-leading SaaS company formed in 2020 through the merger of Activist Insight and Proxy Insight.

Sonali is a Partner and the Global Head of ESG at Simmons & Simmons LLP. She has significant experience in the complex legal and policy landscape governing ESG. Sonali advises on ESG matters in a multi-jurisdictional setting assessing the application of ESG regulations to companies with global footprints. Having worked within industry, she has held leadership positions in several ESG-focused industry bodies and is an active contributor to ESG-policy discussions.

Randy Smallwood is President and Chief Executive Officer of Wheaton Precious Metals. He was involved in the founding of Wheaton and in 2007, he joined Wheaton full time as Executive Vice President of Corporate Development. In January 2010 he was appointed President, and in April 2011 he was appointed Wheaton’s Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Smallwood originally started as an exploration geologist with Wheaton River Minerals Ltd., and in 2001 was promoted to Director of Project Development, his role through its 2005 merger with Goldcorp.

Mr. Smallwood also currently serves as Chair of the World Gold Council having been appointed to the role in 2020. Additionally, Mr. Smallwood is the Chair of Special Olympics BC and MineralsEd BC, board member of Mining4Life, and previously served on the board of the BC Cancer Foundation. In 2021, he joined the British Columbia Institute of Technology Inspire Campaign Cabinet and was a founding member of the First Forward Capital Campaign Cabinet. Mr. Smallwood holds a geological engineering degree from the University of British Columbia and a mine engineering diploma from the British Columbia Institute of Technology. In 2015, he received the British Columbia Institute of Technology Distinguished Alumni Award.

Amy Smith is a Manager in LSEG’s Capital Markets Sustainable Finance team, where she is focused on strengthening London Stock Exchange’s position as a leading venue for sustainable finance through product development, stakeholder engagement, strategy, and innovation.  Amy is a key member of the London Stock Exchange’s Voluntary Carbon Markets team, where she has led their client engagement efforts and contributed to developing a public markets solution to the scaling of the voluntary carbon markets.

Duncan Smith is Deputy Head of Investigations at EIB in Luxembourg. As a barrister, he prosecuted corporate fraud & corruption offences at the DTI & SFO. He moved to the World Bank’s Investigation Unit (as Team Leader, later Policy & Sanctions Adviser), then to EIB to conduct investigations and to address training, outreach, prevention/deterrence issues and negotiate settlements. He co-authored the IFI Anti-Corruption Uniform Framework Agreement (2006) & other MDB harmonized documents (eg. General Principles on Settlements).

Reginald Smith serves as a Research Analyst for Eventide Asset Management, a values-based investment firm based in Boston. He is primarily responsible for finding and evaluating new investment opportunities in clean tech, clean energy, and traditional energy.

Mr. Smith spent five years at Johnson Controls where he developed large energy conservation and solar projects and, most recently, led the development engineering for an energy storage start-up business within the firm. Before Eventide, he spent the Summer of 2019 at Marathon Capital, an investment bank in clean energy. Mr. Smith holds an MBA with High Distinction from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University.

Mr Benedikt Sobotka is the CEO of Eurasian Resources Group (ERG), a leading diversified natural resources group with integrated mining, processing, energy, logistics and marketing. The Group has operations in 15 countries. With more than 70,000 people working for the Group, ERG is one of the largest employers in the industry.  Benedikt was born in 1980 in Germany. He has extensive experience in the mining and energy sectors. As a former member of BCG, he has advised multiple leading companies worldwide, including in Germany, Russia, South Africa and the UK, and held various management positions.  Benedikt has developed a close partnership with the World Economic Forum and takes an active role in many industry groups and wider initiatives. He sits on the Governors Steering Committee for the Metals and Mining Community and the Steering Committee for the Partnering Against Corruption Initiative (PACI). 

Mr Sobotka is co-chair of the Global Battery Alliance (GBA), where ERG is a Founding Member. The GBA was launched with the World Economic Forum as a public-private partnership bringing stakeholders together from across the supply chain, including major businesses and international organisations such as UNICEF, OECD and the African Development Bank. The GBA aims to ensure that there is an ethical and sustainable global supply chain for the batteries that help power the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Benedikt is also a Founding Member of the Re|Source initiative in collaboration with CMOC, Glencore, Tesla, Umicore and other supply chain majors, which applies blockchain technology to trace the origins of cobalt and other key battery materials from the mine to the electric vehicle. Benedikt Sobotka is Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. He is also Advisor to the Hainan International Energy Exchange and a Member of the Russia-Brazil Business Council.

Benedikt is an investor in high-tech startups, including MVS, which was sold to Platts/Dow Jones in 2015. He holds a degree in management and has studied in Europe, Russia and China. He is a co-author of "China Champions", a Financial Times top 10 Bestseller on success strategies for investment in China. Mr Sobotka graduated with an MA in Management from the WHU-Otto Beisheim School of Management and has also studied at the Rotterdam School of Management, CEIBS Shanghai, and Moscow Finance Academy. Benedikt speaks five languages proficiently, and also a little Chinese.

Nick is the Head of Climate Solutions at LGIM. Previously, he was Head of Commodity Research. Nick joined in 2013 as a Fund Manager in LGIM’s Global Equity team, focused on energy and natural resources. Prior to joining LGIM he was an Investment Director for Developed Asia and Global Emerging Markets at Standard Life Investments. He previously worked for an emerging market focused hedge fund investing in equities, convertible bonds and distressed debt. He has also worked in a corporate advisory role and as a software developer. Nick has a law degree (LLB) and a Master’s in jurisprudence (MJur), focused on securities law, from the University of Durham.

James Stevens is the Global Sales and Marketing Director for Preformed Windings Ltd. and the Vice President and Non-Executive Director of the Association of Electrical and Mechanical Trades (AEMT). He has a Batchelor of Engineering Degree and an MBA and has 13 years of experience across both the mechanical and electrical engineering industry. James has been with Preformed Windings since 2015 and is responsible for the strategic growth of the business and driving the company's position as thought leaders in the renewables sector. Pavan Sukhdev is a scientist by education, an international banker by training, and an environmental economist by passion. Years of work in sustainability and the invisible economics of nature led to his appointment to head the United Nations’ “Green Economy Initiative” and to lead the G8+5 study TEEB (The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity).

Pavan was awarded the McCluskey Fellowship (2011) by Yale University. At Yale, he taught a graduate course on TEEB and wrote his book “Corporation 2020 - Transforming Business for Tomorrow’s World”. In this book, he advocates four changes in micro-policy and regulation which can rapidly transform today’s corporation to deliver tomorrow’s green and equitable “economy of permanence”. This led to his ongoing campaign (launched at Rio+20, 2012) on transforming business for tomorrow’s world. Pavan promotes tomorrow’s corporation, “Corporation 2020”, one with positive rather than negative externalities as the engine of tomorrow’s inclusive green economy. As founder and CEO of GIST, which delivers impact valuation and analytics, Pavan works with asset managers, C-suite executives and senior government officials on transition techniques, with an emphasis on metrics for sustainability. 

Pavan has served on the boards of Conservation International (CI), the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the Stockholm Resilience Centre (SRC), and on the TEEB Advisory Board, and has won several awards for his work including the Blue Planet Prize (2016) and the Tyler Prize (2020).

Cas has more than 25 years’ experience in international investor relations and shareholder identification and has been with Georgeson since 1998. As responsible for Georgeson’s Global activism and M&A practice, he has been involved in the highest profile M&A and activist situations. Cas has a longstanding knowledge of Global proxy voting mechanics and key governance matters affecting issuers and shareholders globally. Having worked for several activists and against many more he has in-depth experience in how activists run their campaigns and the different stakeholders they look to influence in sensitive activist campaigns. Prior to joining Georgeson he had five years’ experience in international investor relations and shareholder identification. While honing his skills in the US, Cas has been in the UK since 2002.

Dr Miho Taka is an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations (CTPSR), Coventry University. She has a BA in Education, MA in Third World Studies, MPA and PhD in International Relations and Sociology. Specialised in the political ecology of conflict, natural resource governance, sustainability, business and human rights and responsible sourcing of minerals. She also works on education for peace and sustainability and engages with wider society.

Before Bluebell Partners Marco accumulated 23 years' experience with the investment banks Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan, where he held several senior positions in New York, London and Milan. In his last position he was responsible for JP Morgan’s Italian Investment Banking Advisory and Coverage of corporate clients. Marco also held a senior position in Morgan Stanley’s PWM business.

Marco has been involved in major M&A and capital markets transactions across the US and Europe, and across most industry sectors. Selected examples include the privatisation of Telecom Italia, the IPOs  of Mediaset, Gucci, Bulgari and Ferragamo, and large re-financings such as Snam.

In 2007 Marco successfully launched Network Capital Partners, a PE fund of funds and co-investment vehicle which raised $150m and delivered returns in line with top quartile peers. He also co-founded ePlanet, a TLC company which went public in 2000 with a post-money market capitalization of €600m.

Marco holds a university degree in Business Administration from Turin University, an MBA from Columbia Business School and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Namrata Thapar is Global Head of Mining for IFC, the private sector arm of the World Bank Group. Ms. Thapar leads IFC’s investment team responsible for supporting the mining sector and developing IFC’s mining business with a focus on sustainability and development impact across the emerging markets. IFC’s financing includes investments in equity, mezzanine and senior debt. She joined IFC in 1999 and has managed investments in mining transactions globally with clients ranging from major diversified companies to juniors through equity, project and corporate financings. She is based in Washington D.C.

David is a consultant on corporate governance, shareholder engagement, activist investment and capital markets with a variety of advisory and non-executive roles

He was formerly Vice Chairman of Knight Vinke, at the time one of Europe’s best known activist investment firms, where he was actively involved in leading the engagement with some of Europe’s largest companies.

He is a Member of Council at the Institute of Directors and sits on the IoD’s Corporate Governance Policy Committee, as well as its Audit and Risk Committee. As a consultant, David advises investment companies on corporate governance, stewardship and engagement as well as shareholder activism. He is also a private company Non-Executive Director.

Prior to joining Knight Vinke in 2009, Mr. Trenchard was a Senior Consultant at Tulchan Communications (one of London’s leading capital markets communications advisory firms).

He had previously spent 25 years in investment banking – mostly at Morgan Stanley – where he held various senior posts in equity sales and investment banking in Europe, North America and Asia. Latterly at Morgan Stanley he was a London-based Managing Director in Equity Capital Markets and Head of Corporate Broking.

Mr. Trenchard graduated from Cambridge University, with a degree in Economics.

Glenn was called to the Johannesburg Bar in 1987, where he spent 14 years practising as an advocate specialising in general commercial and competition law and took silk in 2002. Glenn was appointed De Beers’ first general counsel in 2002 and was also a member of its Executive Committee. He was responsible for a number of key initiatives during his tenure, including overseeing De Beers’ re-entry into the USA.

Glenn joined Gem Diamonds in May 2006 and served on the Board from April 2008 to November 2017. Glenn was appointed as the Company Secretary in January 2015

Glenn is currently a non-Executive Director of Agribiomed Limited and Lineout Holdings Limited.

Maria is the Co-Founder and CPO of Open Hydro, an organisation with the aim to accelerate climate finance into the hydropower sector and empower organisations to demonstrate their contributions to a climate-resilient zero-carbon planet.  María is an expert in water resources and particularly in the hydropower sector. She has led the development of the most recognised framework at present on climate change assessment and acknowledged analysis of GHG emissions and modernisation of hydropower projects. She counts on a large network in the hydropower sector after working at the International Hydropower Association with major multilateral development banks, advising international organisations and collaborating with the largest utilities in the world.

Sora joined Aviva Investors in 2018 as an ESG analyst. From initially supporting the firm's flagship Stewardship funds, her responsibilities soon expanded to involve coverage of high-impact sectors including oil & gas, mining and healthcare. Currently she holds a key role in leading Aviva Investors' ESG corporate research function, shaping the firm's ESG research agenda, identifying emerging sector trends and fostering research collaboration across asset classes. Her work on the energy sector has focused on the intricacies of the low-carbon transition and path-dependencies with other sectors, focusing particularly on key technology levers necessary to deliver a net-zero outcome. Prior to joining Aviva Investors, Sora was a project manager in global health at Merck KGaA based in Geneva, and CDP in London where she focused on supply chain strategies. She holds a degree in political science from King's College London and SciencesPo Paris, as well as an MA in International Affairs from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Geneva and an MSc in Carbon Management from the University of Edinburgh.

Mark van Baal is the founder of Follow This, a group of over 7,000 green shareholders in Big Oil. The mission of Follow This is to compel oil and gas companies to put their brains and billions behind renewable energy. Thanks to the votes of institutional investors for the Follow This Climate Resolutions, Shell, Equinor, BP, and Total each set climate targets for all emissions. In the US, in 2021, the Follow This Climate Resolutions won three consecutive majorities at the annual general shareholder meetings of ConocoPhillips, Phillips66, and Chevron.
Mark van Baal (The Hague, 1968) studied Mechanical Engineering, was a conscript navy officer, sales manager and energy journalist before he founded Follow This in 2015. He lives in Amsterdam with his wife Marijke and their son Barend.

Mark Wade heads up Sustainability Research and Stewardship at Allianz Global Investors under the firm’s revamped Sustainability structure. Sustainability Research comprises thematic research, sector frameworks and sustainability company profiles. The research activities are complemented by the engagement and proxy voting activities of the Stewardship team, who publish Stewardship Insights publications to demystify our approach to Stewardship activities. The team collaborates with the firm’s Sustainability Investment Office on topics like exclusions and participation in industry bodies and the Sustainability Methodologies and Analytics Team on topics like the new regulatory requirements like Sustainable Investment Share. Lastly, the team works closely with Investments, Products and Distribution on Sustainability product development and processes. Prior to this role, Mark was Co-Head of Credit Research and was the fixed income representative on the firm's Sustainability Committee since 2016. Prior to joining AllianzGI in 2014, Mark has been a seasoned industrials analyst having worked in both buy and sell side roles at Lehman Brothers, UBS, Aladdin Capital Management and HSBC.  Mark was a founding member of the Executive Committee for the European Leverage Finance Alliance, which has sought to improve stakeholder interests, sustainability and disclosure in the European leverage finance markets and passed the inaugural CFA Investing in ESG Level 4 exam in 2019. Mark holds a BA in Natural Sciences (Mathematics and Philosophy) from Durham University.

Chris Wheaton joined Stifel in 2017. Based in London, he is an analyst in the Oil & Gas sector. Prior to joining Stifel, he spent 21 years in the investment management industry, working at Fidelity Investments, Aviva Investors, Allianz Global Investors and T. Rowe Price, and has specialized as an analyst on the Oil & Gas sector since 2003. Chris graduated with a Masters degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cambridge.

Fiona has almost 25 years’ experience in sustainability and climate change issues at multinational oil and gas and resources companies, ranging from frontline operational management to corporate strategic development across a variety of countries and businesses. She is a leading international voice on how resource companies can manage climate-related risks and support a low carbon transition in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement. 

Born in Liverpool, UK, she holds a degree and PhD in Chemistry from the University of Edinburgh. Her PhD focused on using coral skeletons as natural indicators of climate change. She began her career with oil and gas major BP, working for several years in various operational roles in upstream exploration, downstream refining businesses, and corporate policy development at BP's headquarters in London. In these roles, she gained extensive experience in carbon management, climate policy and low carbon business development.  She joined BHP in 2010 and was appointed to the role of Vice President, Sustainability and Climate Change in 2013. In this role, she leads the design and implementation of BHP’s climate change strategy, including activities in the areas of portfolio evaluation, operational and value chain decarbonisation, physical risk and adaptation, reporting and disclosure, and stakeholder engagement. She advises the Board and senior management on emerging climate change trends and represents BHP in engagements with international NGOs, academics, peers, industry associations, governments and investors.

In December 2015, Fiona was appointed to the Financial Stability Board’s Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures, reporting to the G20, which provides the global benchmark for how financial and non-financial companies should disclose climate-related information to ensure financial risk can be better measured and managed. She also holds several Board positions, including Deputy Chair of the Global Carbon Capture and Storage Institute (GCCSI) and has represented BHP at the International Council of Mining and Metals.

In June 2021, Charlotte Wolff-Bye took up the role of Chief Sustainability Officer at Malaysia’s national company Petronas, where she is charged with turning the company’s Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050 aspiration into strategy and workable implementation plans delivering both decarbonization and social progress.

Previously, Charlotte worked  for the Norwegian energy company, Equinor in the role of Vice President Sustainability. At Equinor she delivered the company’s first sustainability stategy that laid the foundation for the company’s low carbon focus. She was also the company’s representative on the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative (OGCI) and the World Bank’s Global Gas Flaring Reduction Initiative (GGFR). From 2007-14, Charlotte held the position of General Manager Corporate Responsibility for the global steel and mining company ArcelorMittal.

Charlotte is a longstanding and active champion of corporate sustainability practices, a frequent top-level speaker, commentator and writer on sustainability, ESG and energy-related matters. She has proactively been shaping the agenda and been involved in the launch of several collaboratibe partnerships including the Climate and Clean Air Coalition Oil and Gas Methane Partnership, the Nordic CEOs for a Sustainable Future and the Global E-sustainability initiative. She is the recipient of a leadership award by Devex for her contribution to international development. Currently, she serves on the board of trustees of the UN Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre, Cambridge, United Kingdom.

Craig is a passionate and well experienced ESG professional. He is responsible for developing Britishvolt’s strategy and reporting for all ESG activities, a crucial pillar to the overall business success. His prior roles include as an Environmental and planning regulator, consultant and business lead both in the UK and many locations around the globe. 

Craig has worked latterly in the automotive sector developing strategies and systems to support global sustainability, compliance and reporting around Net Zero at Jaguar Land Rover. He led integration of sustainability within their new plants in Brazil and Slovakia and other global operations and worked with suppliers on sustainability integration. Prior to this he worked with international clients as a manufacturing business sector manager leading permitting, sustainability and environmental compliance including assessing investment opportunities for banks and due diligence transactional support. His experience covers many technical areas including COMAH, mining, chemical and energy sectors and overall EHS support, all crucial areas for ongoing BV development. 

Craig is a Chartered Water and Environmental Manager, Chartered Scientist and Chartered Environmentalist and also volunteers as a mentor for students at Nottingham Trent University.

A mining engineer by training, Jeremy initially worked in the South African gold mining industry and then followed an investment banking career, starting as a mining analyst in 1988. Over the last 30 years he has held various roles including Global Head of Mining Equities at Deutsche Bank, Global Head of Mining Equity Sales at UBS and, most recently, Head – Global Natural Resources at Investec Bank in London. In 2017 he left the investment banking industry and founded his own company, Cornish Lithium Ltd, where he serves as the Chief Executive Officer.

Michael Younis is Vice President of Asset Stewardship and is responsible for State Street Global Advisors’ (State Street) proxy voting activities, engagement with investee companies and analysis of corporate governance, strategic and sustainability related issues in the North American region. Michael joined State Street in 2015 where he supported the transition from the Corporate Governance team to the Asset Stewardship team and continues to serve as the Client Stewardship Lead for the team. Prior to State Street, Michael focused on climate and circular economy issues while working at environmental advocacy and impact investing organizations.

Michael earned his Master of Environmental Management from Duke University's Nicholas School of the Environment, where he also holds a Certificate of Inclusion and Diversity, and his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Degree from the Boston University School of Management. Michael currently sits on the board of the Investor Stewardship Group.

Lucy is a geologist with a background in grassroots exploration. She holds an MSc in Mining Geology from Camborne School of Mines and a Master’s degree in Earth Sciences from the University of Oxford. Prior to joining Cornish Lithium, she worked as an exploration geologist for Altus Strategies, planning and implementing exploration strategies for base and precious metals projects up to drill stage in Africa. She is now applying these skills to Cornish Lithium’s exploration programme. Part of her role at Cornish Lithium is to foster collaboration with other industry and academic partners to accelerate the exploration programme and test new concepts.

Lucy has a keen interest in furthering the interests of young mining professionals and in promoting the mining industry to students, and sits on the committee of both Young Mining Professionals and Women in Mining (UK).

Natalia is running a Natural Resources Forum in London, an independent forum for mining and oil & gas companies to come together for presentations, discussion and debate with leading investors, analysts and senior industry advisors. Natalia has over 18 years’ experience working alongside natural resources companies assisting with M&A transactions, asset sale, capital raisings, crisis communications and strategic profile raising. 

Natalia was Director of Corporate Communications and Company Secretary for Taurex Resources. Natalia has worked for Alfa Capital Markets in London and Halliburton International in Moscow. Natalia holds an MA in International Banking and Finance from London Metropolitan University and an MA in International Relations from Moscow State University.

Daniel Litvin is the Founder and Senior Partner of Critical Resource. Since founding the company in 2006, he has grown Critical Resource to be a leading provider of strategic advice to energy and mining firms and their investors on ‘ESG’, license-to-operate, and political risks. Critical Resource was acquired by ERM, the leading global sustainability consultancy, in early 2020. Daniel is also currently a Visiting Senior Fellow at LSE’s Grantham Institute on Climate Change and the Environment.

Prior to Critical Resource, Daniel was a consultant and adviser to leadership at McKinsey & Company on “business in society” issues. He was also a policy adviser to Rio Tinto, where he worked with senior management on human rights and other sustainability topics. He has also been a senior research fellow at the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House) in London, specializing in the geopolitics of energy.

Daniel started his career at The Economist, where he worked as the magazine’s environment and resources correspondent, jointly winning the Wincott Award for young financial journalist of the year. He is author of ‘Empires of Profit: Commerce, Conquest & Corporate Responsibility,’ a history of the political challenges facing big corporations, from the East India Company onward. Daniel holds an MSc in Anthropology and Development from the LSE, and a BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University.

David is a consultant on corporate governance, shareholder engagement, activist investment and capital markets with a variety of advisory and non-executive roles

He was formerly Vice Chairman of Knight Vinke, at the time one of Europe’s best known activist investment firms, where he was actively involved in leading the engagement with some of Europe’s largest companies.

He is a Member of Council at the Institute of Directors and sits on the IoD’s Corporate Governance Policy Committee, as well as its Audit and Risk Committee. As a consultant, David advises investment companies on corporate governance, stewardship and engagement as well as shareholder activism. He is also a private company Non-Executive Director.

Prior to joining Knight Vinke in 2009, Mr. Trenchard was a Senior Consultant at Tulchan Communications (one of London’s leading capital markets communications advisory firms).

He had previously spent 25 years in investment banking – mostly at Morgan Stanley – where he held various senior posts in equity sales and investment banking in Europe, North America and Asia. Latterly at Morgan Stanley he was a London-based Managing Director in Equity Capital Markets and Head of Corporate Broking.

Mr. Trenchard graduated from Cambridge University, with a degree in Economics.
